At Bradley Chiropractic Nutrition Center we use massage therapy to compliment the other chiropractic treatment modalities that we offer. Before beginning massage therapy we thoroughly evaluate each patient. This way the massage you receive will be tailored to your needs. It will be very effective in reducing pain.
By evaluating the patient first, we can discover any postural imbalances that one may have. Our massage therapist will then understand which muscles need to be worked on the most and which should be left alone.
The goal is for the massage therapy to help balance your body. Short, tight muscles will be relaxed and lengthened. Then, when an exercise or adjustment is performed, the body is more receptive of the change. It also ensures that the proper alignment is maintained better for longer after treatment.
Our massage therapist, Jannette, uses a combination of techniques, but normally she goes for deep-tissue therapy which is especially effective at getting tight muscles to relax. She also has an excellent understanding of anatomy and postural imbalances so that she understands what she is trying to correct when massaging a patient.
She is also excellent at creating a very soothing atmosphere when giving a massage. This helps you relax so you can receive the full benefits of the massage. Her communication skills are wonderful and she is constantly asking the patient questions about their comfort level. She does this so she is sure to not hurt the patient while also performing the most effective massage.
We like to educate the patient on what they can do outside of our office to help maintain health. Jannette shows many patients stretches or self-massaging techniques they can do at home. We also have a wealth of resources, videos, and blog posts on our website which we recommend to people, or that you can check out yourself.

Massage is part of our holistic approach to treating patients. Meaning that we concern ourselves with treating the entire body so you can enjoy wholesome health. Our method is to treat the underlying root of pain and dysfunction in the body. This way the cause of the symptoms resolved and a higher level of health is reached.
We are sure to have an open line of communication between the doctor, patient, and massage therapist. Because an evaluation is performed before the massage, Dr. Bradley is able to relate to our massage therapist exactly what needs to be worked on to provide the most effective care. At all points during the treatment we want it to be understood how to best treat the patient, while also ensuring the patient is comfortable and receiving the best care possible.
Through the lens of a holistic approach, massage is an excellent way for us to improve health by reducing stress within and without the body. It also is effective for restoring structural balance in the body to improve overall health.

Massage therapy is the process of getting muscles in the body to relax through soft-tissue manipulation. Soft-tissue manipulation is the use of various hands-on techniques to apply pressure to the muscles, tendons, and ligaments of the body. Done correctly, this reduces tension in the entire body, but especially helps tight muscles relax. Aching and pain in the body is also relieved.
The health benefits of massage range from improving circulation, reducing muscle tension, decreasing pain, increasing energy, increasing flexibility, calming the nervous system, lowering heart rate and blood pressure, reducing stress, and improving sleep.
There are a variety of techniques involved in massage. The massage therapist primarily uses their hands to administer the massage, however they can also use their forearms, elbows, and feet. For the massage itself, there are many styles of massage that one can learn and use, all of which have their own benefits.
Commonly, "knots" in muscles and fascia are found and worked out of the body. Knots are areas where the muscle has shortened and may be sending pain to other parts of the body as well. Getting these areas to relax reduces pain and allows the muscles function properly.
Often, massage therapists will also use aromatherapy and the use of heat or cold to help relax the client. The relaxation helps muscles release tension, and helps provide the full health benefits of massage.
